Like it or not, conflict is very much a part of life. It can occur between you and anyone you come in contact with. The fact that conflict occurs may not be the problem; sometimes it’s how you deal with it. Most people shy away from conflict, doing just about anything to avoid it. When conflict arises, do you pretend everything’s OK? Do you withdraw? Do you give in or give the “cold shoulder”? Do you get angry, criticize, or use sarcasm? Do you scream, yell, or become physically violent? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, it might benefit you to learn more effective conflict management and resolution skills.
