One whiff and suddenly we want sex? Are pheromones real? Does human sexual behavior depend on our awareness of pheromones? To find out scientifically, we would have to establish whether or not human pheromones exist, whether or not we can detect them, and whether or not we respond to them consistently. It turns out that human do have glands that produce odors that have pheromonal properties. Unfortunately these odors stimulate a sexual response in pigs rather than humans. Humans can tell each other apart using the sense of smell, therefore if human pheromones existed, we could probably detect them. Would we become out of control sex-crazed? Probably not, but scientists are still searching for answers.
