Many women associate their sexiness with a full womanly figure, especially full breasts.  Weathering cancer and a mastectomy can play havoc with a woman’s confidence and self-esteem. Actress Angelina Jolie’s recent decision to have a double mastectomy brought these sensitive issues to light. Jolie expressed that her partner has been loving and supportive. Unfortunately, many women in a similar position experience alienation or rejection from their spouses. It is very important to seek counseling so that communication between partners doesn’t stagnate. Men commonly feel the loss of their partner’s breasts intensely and may shy away; women may withdraw. Both partners need professional help to navigate the emotions involved.
