It’s often been said that married people have better physical and psychological health compared to single people, but the opposite also holds true: Rocky marriages make people less healthy. Studies have shown that those in unsatisfying marriages have higher stress levels and are more likely to develop heart disease. Sharon Rivkin, a marriage and family therapist, says some couples cannot make it, but there’s hope for most couples. Working together to change bad habits in the marriage can help. Some of these habits are: Keeping it all inside, poor listening, blaming each other, taking each other for granted, and giving up too soon.
