In the honeymoon phase of a marriage, people focus on what they find attractive in each other. Later, they focus on their differences. At that point, following conventional wisdom can undermine an excellent marriage partnership. Wising up about the following “matrimonial myths” is a good idea. 1) Marriage is about compromise. 2) Spouses need to get their anger out. 3) Intimacy requires being open, communicating what you feel. 4) Father, or mother, knows best. 5) Don’t go to bed mad. 6) If you’re arguing with me, you must not like me. 7) Marriage is forever. 8) Love conquers all.
