In an article in Psychology Today, Jack Schafer, Ph.D., lists several odd facts about kissing, starting with the fact that a kiss, depending on its intensity, can burn from two to three calories to more than five. When you consider the 20,160 minutes on average that people spend kissing during their lifetime, that’s a lot of calories. In an open-mouth kiss, men release testosterone into a woman’s mouth which is absorbed through mucus membranes and increases her arousal which explains why men kiss more before sex than women who kiss more afterwards. To end a fight, men are more likely to kiss than women are.
