When it comes to marriage, extramarital affairs are still definitely out. With regards to family planning, birth control is definitely in, supported by 91% of the population. Yet, American moral perspectives on personal relationships have changed considerably since 2001. Outside of marriage, sex and babies are increasingly more acceptable. The most significant shift is the 59% approval rating and acceptance of gay and lesbian relationships. Americans seem to be trending towards a moral perspective that approves of sex in general, as long as it doesn’t occur with a married person or outside one’s own marriage.
