When a woman is stricken with breast cancer, her first thoughts are about staying alive, not how it will affect her sex life. For Lulu, a woman who survived breast cancer at age 44, had her left breast removed, and went into early menopause, sex was out of the question at first. She felt disfigured and was eventually referred to a sex therapist for help. In the year and a half it took Lulu to become interested in sex again, she learned it was a process that had to involve both her and her husband. The therapist gave them technical advice like how to use lubricants and advice about how to reawaken their sexual desire.
