Although many foods have had aphrodisiac properties applied to them, the majority of the claims are unfounded. In her book, Age-Proof Your Body, Elizabeth Somer, RD, says there’s no proof any food will consistently boost sexual desire, but there are five worth looking into. 1) Bright foods. Brightly colored fruits and vegetables are healthy, and better health equals better sex. 2) Light foods. For men, lower fat equals more testosterone. 3) Chocolate. Chocolate affects the body in ways similar to being in love. 4) Alcohol. Alcohol suppresses anxiety and inhibitions in moderation. 5) Oysters. Oysters supply zinc which helps sustain normal sexual functions.
