You can, though, contract a fatal STD when you have unprotected oral sex. You can contract human papillomavirus or HPV which is a virus responsible for cervical cancer, anal cancer, and other genital cancers. Also, medical experts agree that a recent surge in oropharyngeal cancers like throat, tongue, and tonsil cancer is due to HPV infections transmitted through unprotected oral sex. According to the CDC, HPV infections are common and will affect 50% of adults at some point in their lifetime.
