An older women was asked by her physician if she climaxes during intercourse. Considering she hadn’t had sex in more than 25 years, she thought it was a strange question. She also wondered if she should consult her physician before engaging in a sexual relationship. The doctor responding to the question suggested the woman’s physician may have been wondering if she had a sexual outlet such as masturbation, because orgasms are associated with overall health and well being. He also noted that for physical and mental reasons, and because older adults can get sexually transmitted infections, it would be a good idea for the woman to have a talk with her physician before having sex.
